António Leitão Amaro is Vice-President of the Social Democratic Party, Professor of Public Finance at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and at the Católica Global School of Law and is President of the Municipal Assembly of Tondela.
He was Secretary of State for Local Administration in the 19th Government of Portugal, Deputy of the Assembly of the Republic (11th, 12th and 13th Legislatures), Vice-President of the PSD Parliamentary Group and Secretary-General of JSD.
He was a Marshall Memorial Fellow at the German Marshall Fund in the United States, a Scholar at The Europaeum, a Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School, and a lawyer at the Cuatrecasas law firm. He is Vice-President of the Quotaholders’ Meeting of Indico Venture Capital funds.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M) from Harvard Law School at Harvard University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Lisbon and Postgraduate Degrees in Economics from the University of Lisbon, and in Regulation and Competition from the University of Coimbra.
In 2024, he took office as Minister of the Presidency in the XXIV Government of Portugal.
